A journey through human rights and your company Page 11 | 24 2.3. THIRD GENERATION. SOLIDARITY RIGHTS For their part, the third generation of rights, relates to the community and bonds of solidarity. Explicit recognition of these rights began in the last third of the 20th century and among them, of particular note are the rights to a healthy environment, to development and to peace. The international instruments that express this new trend are the Declaration of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment , approved in Stockholm in 1972 and the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development of 1992, whose Principle 3 includes “ sustainable development as an essential objective of our era”.
